Baltimore Folk Music Society

Welcome to the Baltimore Folk Music Society

The Baltimore Folk Music Society is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to preserving and promoting folk music, dance, and tradition. BFMS sponsors regular dances, concerts, family events, and related activities year-round. Members are eligible for discounts to Society events by showing their membership card.

BFMS is a member of the Country Dance & Song Society and shares reciprocity arrangements with the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, and the Annapolis Traditional Dance Society.

There is still time to make a donation to the organization that brings so much pleasure to your life and to the cultural life to ALL ages in Baltimore! For over 44 years the Baltimore Folk Music Society has been the go to place for dances, live music, concerts, festivals, not to mention the annual get away weekend in the Catoctin Mountains! We never turn anyone away for financial reasons, and most of our events do not break even. If wish to see BFMS continue and grow as a shining light in Baltimore, please consider a donation to support BFMS. It is fast and easy on the BFMS website.
Or, donate to BFMS through purchases on Amazon Smile. Select Baltimore Folk Music Society from the list of charities.
You can also suggest what events you would like to see in 2020. The entire BFMS Board is made up of volunteers, who are ready and willing to work with you, and to make your ideas a reality!

Bob Bovee Concert

We have a rare opportunity to hear Bob Bovee in the intimate setting of a house concert at 8 PM on Friday, February 28. Doors open at 7:30. This is definitely a concert you do not want to miss! Bob rarely comes this way from Minnesota, and we are so excited to be able to have him in this area! His humor alone is worth the price of admission! Bob is a one man folk festival of authentic, traditional music.

The concert will be held in a wheel chair accessible home in Catonsville, MD. A limited number of chairs are still available.Suggested donation is $15 for members of BFMS, and affiliated organizations and $20 for the general public.Contributions of snack food for intermission are welcome. Bring instruments, because a jam will follow the concert.
