Sean-nós Irish Dance for Beginners taught by Kelly Smit. 5:30pm-6:00pm. Mondays, Sep 14 - Oct 26, 2026 (Note: There will be no class on Oct 19). Baltimore County Arts Guild Catonsville Clubhouse, 10 St. Timothy’s Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228. Designed for adults with little or no previous dance experience, you'll learn the fundamental steps, rhythms, and techniques of sean-nós dancing in a fun, supportive environment. Along the way, you'll build confidence while learning to dance to reels and jigs – the lively tunes at the heart of Ireland's rich musical tradition. Cost is $5 per person per class to be paid at the door or online at bcartsguild.org. IMPORTANT: You’ll want to dance in supportive shoes with a smooth hard sole – NOT athletic shoes.

Learn a traditional rish solo set dance, “The Priest And His Boots” with Kelly Smit

6pm–6:40pm. Baltimore County Arts Guild Catonsville Clubhouse, 10 St. Timothy’s Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228. "The Priest in His Boots" is a traditional Irish solo set dance that can be performed in either a flat, sliding style or on the balls of the feet. This class teaches the complete dance, including its specific steps to the accompanying tune. We suggest students have some rudimentary dance experience and wear supportive shoes with a smooth hard sole. Cost is $10 per person per class to be paid at the door or online at bcartsguild.org.

Sean-nós is a solo, casual, free-spirited and improvisational form of Irish dance that’s low-to-the-ground and percussive. Some previous dance experience is recommended for this class.
