Mesmerizing live music by Loretta Kelley and friends on exotic Norwegian Hardanger fiddle and Swedish nyckelharpa, which both have sympathetic strings under the bowed strings. The waltz lesson begins at 2:45 p.m. with a half-hour of beginner instruction and 15 minutes for an intermediate or advanced move. Part workshop, part masterclass, the program will give a detailed view of their instrumentation, particularly the lesser known Yanqin (Chinese Hammered Dulcimer), along with five-string banjo, cello banjo, gourd banjo, mandolin, ukulele and percussion. If people bring instruments, they will teach one Chinese tune that easily adapts to American old-time instruments. Q & A to follow and a last tune.
